Haley Anderson

Human Centred Cities...

is a platform by Haley Anderson. The vision is to do good work and inspire others to get involved in transforming their cities (and beyond) into more joyful, inclusive, and resilient places.

Haley holds an Honours Bachelor of Design (BDes) from York/Sheridan and a Masters in Urban Development (MPl) from the TMU (Ryerson) School of Urban and Regional Planning. She has worn many hats in her nearly 15 years as a sustainability, city-building, and entrepreneurship professional. Some roles she plays include consultant, designer, marketer, project manager, entrepreneur, and planner. She is based in Toronto, Ontario. Her work has taken her to Montreal, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Denver, Washington DC, and Amsterdam.

With extensive experience in project management, sustainability consulting, communications, and engagement, Haley is a well-rounded professional focused on material reuse and the built environment. Her expertise lies in service and systems design for community, circularity, and policy. Thanks to her diverse experiences in sustainable transportation, the circular economy, the built environment, urban farming, accessibility, biodiversity, affordable housing, and community wellbeing, she has a knack for thinking differently, breaking down silos, and bringing dreams into action.

Why Human Centred?

Ultimately, a human-centered approach to sustainability is imperative because it recognizes that humans are not separate from nature but are an integral part of it. If we don’t put humans at the centre of the problem, the solution will not include humans. By focusing on human needs and wellbeing, we can create a sustainable future that benefits both humans and the environment.
